The Reda variety is the result of many years of breeding work by the Botanical Garden of Vytautas Magnus University on the domestication of local cranberries. The plant is a selection from wild populations.
The variety is intended for cultivation as a berry crop on plantations. In terms of the content of biologically active substances, including anthocyanins and other phenolic compounds, the berries of this variety are comparable to wild-growing cranberries.
