The variety is the result of a spontaneous natural mutation, not a hybrid or a product of breeding. Externally, it is almost indistinguishable from common Chardonnay, with the exception of the pink hue of the berry skin. The timing of bud burst, flowering, and ripening, as well as disease susceptibility, are similar to white Chardonnay.

This is a wine grape variety. The organoleptic profile of the resulting wines is close to classic Chardonnay with notes of citrus and white flowers. Due to the low anthocyanin content in the skin, wine made from this variety usually does not acquire a pink color.
