The variety is a natural mutation of the Chasselas variety, which arose as a result of the appearance of a muscat aroma. In terms of ripening, it belongs to the early varieties: bud burst occurs approximately two days before the standard Chasselas variety. The main purpose is fresh consumption, although the variety is also used in winemaking.

Morphological characteristics of the clusters and leaves almost completely coincide with the Chasselas variety. The clusters and berries are small or medium in size. Agrotechnical characteristics, including the level of disease resistance, also correspond to the base Chasselas variety.

The variety is known under many synonyms, including Chasselas Musqué, Chasselas Blanc Musqué, Chasselas Moscato and Plemenka Muskatna. It is important to avoid confusion with the Muscat Hamburg variety, which is an independent hybrid and is not related to this mutation.
