The variety is the result of 1958 breeding. At the beginning of the growing season, young shoots have characteristic white pubescence. The plant is well adapted to hot and arid climatic conditions, exhibits resistance to downy mildew, but is susceptible to grey mold.

Wines from this variety are distinguished by their bright color and organoleptic properties, similar to the Grenache variety. The variety is grown mainly in the south of France, while its total planting area remains limited.
