The variety is ancient and genetically related to Mondeuse Blanche. It is found under the synonyms Faux Viognier and Vionnière. The vine has high vigor with semi-erect shoots, and the flower is hermaphroditic. Trellis cultivation with long pruning is recommended due to the low fertility of the buds at the base of the shoots.
The leaf is rounded, three- or five-lobed. The clusters are small, cylindrical, and dense. The berries are small, round or slightly oval, white in color, and may acquire a pinkish hue upon ripening. The variety is moderately resistant to downy mildew and powdery mildew, but susceptible to gray mold and black rot.
Wines from this variety are characterized by a pale yellow color with greenish tints, pronounced acidity, and a complex aroma with citrus, floral, and exotic notes.
