Corchera belongs to the category of rare local varieties that are currently undergoing a recovery process following the effects of the phylloxera epidemic in the 19th century. Historically, the variety grows in the Serranía de Ronda area and is not the result of modern hybridization.
The grape belongs to late varieties and possesses a very high level of acidity. Wines produced from it are distinguished by a significant glycerol content, a high level of dry extract, and pronounced acidity. The crop is grown in the form of trained vines, with detailed agrotechnical maps for mass use currently limited.
