The variety has a perfect flower, medium shoot vigor, and an average yield within the range of 80–100 c/ha. The clusters are medium-sized, cylindrical or cylindrical-conical in shape, and loose or medium-dense. The berries are small, round, dark blue, almost black in color, and covered with a heavy bloom.

Wines made from this variety are characterized by an intense dark red or violet color, pronounced tannins, and aromas of berries, fruits, and spices. The variety is also used in blends to increase the color intensity of the wine. Due to high resistance to downy mildew, powdery mildew, and grey mold, it requires a minimal number of fungicide treatments.
