The variety is native to the Savoy region. Genetically, it is an independent variety, not a mutation, and is descended from Gouais blanc. It belongs to the late-ripening varieties.

Bunches are medium to large in size, cylindrical-conical in shape, and compact. Berries are medium-sized, spherical, with thick skin and firm pulp, yielding pink juice. The variety is fertile, possesses high productivity and disease resistance, although it is susceptible to millerandage in certain years.

Used for wine production. Wines produced from this variety are characterized by freshness and aromatics, although they may exhibit high acidity and astringency in their youth.
