The variety is native to Southern Spain. It is used exclusively for winemaking, both in blends with Muscat and Pedro Ximénez, and for producing varietal wines. The vines can reach a significant age and are cultivated at altitudes from 300 to 1000 meters above sea level.
Wines produced from this grape possess aromas of grapefruit and orange zest, and the berry skin is characterized by astringency. The harvest falls in late August — September. Specialized data on immunity to specific diseases in open sources is limited.
