The variety is the result of crossing Petit Bouschet and Garnacha Tinta. The vines are vigorous, demanding in terms of soil depth and abundant watering, while showing good tolerance to low winter temperatures, but demonstrating susceptibility to downy mildew and gray mold.
The grapes are used exclusively in winemaking, often in blends to impart density and deep color to wine, as well as for creating varietal wines. Characterized by high yield, wines from it are distinguished by a rich cherry-red color, moderate acidity, and high alcohol content.
