ActiveVitis vinifera L. · Common grape vine
TIMOTHY SHEEHAN
10 August 2026
The vine is characterized by high vigor and requires yield control to maintain berry quality. The leaf is medium-sized, round, five-lobed, with dense pubescence on the underside. The cluster is cylindro-conical or conical, often winged, with a loose structure, which reduces the risk of rot development.
Berries are of medium or below-medium size, round-shaped, golden-yellow in color, with thick skin covered with bloom. The variety is susceptible to flavescence dorée, chlorosis, and rachis drying, and in northern climatic conditions is sensitive to incomplete shoot maturation.
A wine variety used for creating dry, sparkling, and sweet dessert wines using the berry drying method (appassimento). Genetically identical to the Sicilian variety Grecanico dorato.
