Variety description

The variety is a hybrid of the Gamay and Pinot noir varieties. The plant has low to medium vigor; shoots have a horizontal or semi-erect position. Short pruning is recommended. Bud break occurs 2 days after the Chasselas variety, and technical maturity is reached 2 weeks after it.

Bunches are small and compact, berries are small with thin skin and juicy pulp with a simple flavor. The variety is sensitive to downy mildew and powdery mildew, but is more resistant to grey mold than some other varieties. There is a tendency to form secondary unripe bunches on lateral shoots. Wines from this variety are characterized by an intense color, good balance, moderate acidity, and an aromatic profile similar to Pinot noir.
