The variety is a natural mutation and belongs to the group of teinturier varieties. Unlike common Gamay, the berries of this variety possess red pulp and juice. The bushes are medium-growing, with small bunches and berries. Young leaves have a characteristic bronze hue.
Early ripening variety. It is characterized by susceptibility to gray mold, phomopsis, wood diseases, and leaf yellowing. Resistance to major fungal diseases is similar to the Gamay variety.
Wines from this variety possess high acidity and significant tannin levels. Due to the deep dark color, the variety is rarely used in its pure form; its main purpose is blending to increase the color intensity of other wines.
