The variety is autochthonous to the Vivarais region and is genetically related to the Chatus variety. It belongs to the late maturity group. The bunches are of medium or below-average size, cylindrical-conical in shape, and are characterized by compactness. The berries are medium-sized, spherical or ellipsoidal in shape, dark blue in color with thick skin.

The plant has a semi-erect growth habit and fertility. The variety prefers sandy and granite soils, as well as well-warmed slopes; short pruning is recommended for cultivation. It is resistant to fungal diseases, however, it shows sensitivity to gray mold and berry sunburn.

Wine from this variety is distinguished by high tannin content, firmness, and good aging ability. In its youth, the product has a moderate alcohol content and may exhibit astringent properties.
