The variety is the result of breeding work by Professor Helmut Becker. It belongs to the group of technical varieties intended for winemaking and was created with the goal of improving wine quality while ensuring good wood maturation.

During the breeding process, the objective was to increase resistance to diseases such as Botrytis, powdery mildew, and downy mildew. The variety has not gained wide industrial distribution and is more often found in experimental vineyards.
