The variety is traditional to the Alt Camp and Penedès regions. Although it is listed as a synonym for the Xarel·lo variety in some databases, in modern practice it is distinguished as an independent variety, cultivated primarily in old vineyards aged 40 to 70 years using a bush vine training system.

The grapes are used in winemaking to create varietal wines. The products are characterized by a distinct aroma with floral and citrus notes, including shades of lemon and pink grapefruit, as well as tones of gooseberry, and mineral and smoky nuances. The variety is primarily cultivated within the framework of organic and biodynamic farming.
