ActiveVitis vinifera L. · Common grape vine
TIMOTHY SHEEHAN
10 August 2026
The variety originates from the Balagne region in northwestern Corsica and is the product of a natural cross between the variety Uva Tosca and an unknown parent variety. The vines are characterized by a semi-erect or horizontal growth habit, have long shoots and require trellising, while exhibiting low fertility.
Clusters are large and compact, sometimes with fasciation. Berries are round, dark blue in color, with thin skin and juicy pulp. The variety is sensitive to grey mold, esca and is prone to flower abortion. Wine made from this grape has a bright color, pronounced tannins, and notes of spices and black fruits with moderate sugar accumulation.
