Variety description

10 August 2026

The variety is a hybrid of Aramon and Petit Bouschet, and is also genetically linked to the Graciano variety. The plant is characterized by large, pubescent three- or five-lobed leaves on the underside. Bunches are medium-sized, conical in shape, and range from semi-dense to dense. Berries are medium-large and round in shape.

The variety shows relative resistance to grey mold (Botrytis cinerea), however, it is sensitive to winter frosts and susceptible to powdery mildew. During propagation, it grafts well with most rootstocks, with the exception of Kober 5 BB.

The berries of the variety are distinguished by strongly colored juice, which determines its primary use as a "teinturier" for improving the color of red wines. The flavor profile of the finished product is characterized by notes of dark berries and peppery spice, while the taste itself is often assessed as simple.
