Variety description

The variety is low-yielding and has a long growing cycle. Bunches are medium-sized and moderately dense. Berries are medium-sized, spherical in shape, with thick skin and a dark blue, almost black color.

The plant is sensitive to powdery mildew and requires specific climatic conditions for ripening. It is a classic vine that requires training.

The purpose of the variety is exclusively for winemaking. It is traditionally used in blends to add structure and acidity necessary for long-term storage, although monovarietal wines are also produced.

Synonyms of the variety include: Morrastel, Parraleta, Tinta Miuda, Tintilla de Rota, and Cagnulari.
