Variety description

10 August 2026

The Riesling variety is the result of a natural cross between Heunisch, the wild grape Vitis vinifera subsp. sylvestris, and Traminer. In German-speaking regions, the name Johannisberger Weisser was historically used as a regional synonym for this variety.

Riesling belongs to wine grape varieties. Its bunches are usually small or medium-sized, compact, and conical in shape. The berries are medium-sized, round, and yellow-green in color.

Wines made from this grape are characterized by high acidity, the ability to create a wide range of styles from dry to sweet, and the potential for long aging.
