The variety is a wine grape of the species Vitis vinifera, bred by Pál Mészáros. In documentation, it appears under the name Mészi Kadarka, however, it is classified as a separate breeding selection distinct from the Kadarka variety.
The variety is intended exclusively for red wine production. In accordance with the regulations of the Szekszárd wine region, it may constitute up to 10% in the blend of Szekszárdi Bikavér wine.
