The variety is a secondary wine grape historically associated with the Spanish region of Aragon. In the international variety catalog, it is registered as Moristel. The names Juan Ibáñez and others are also used as synonyms.
The plant forms compact, medium-sized clusters. The berries are medium, cylindrical in shape, with a characteristic bluish hue. Wines produced from this variety are characterized as light, with moderate acidity and tannin content.
The variety is traditionally used in blends, for example, with the Parraleta variety. Specific data on disease resistance is unavailable, although susceptibility to the pest Xylotrechus arvicola is noted.
