Prunelard N is an old variety with high vigor and an upright bush type, allowing for long pruning. The leaves are medium-sized, round, slightly lobed, with slight pubescence on the underside. Maturity group is medium. The bunches are small, conical or cylindrical-conical in shape, medium-dense or loose. The berries are small, round, dark blue in color with a waxy bloom and medium-thickness skin.
The variety is characterized by low yield. Resistant to gray mold (Botrytis cinerea), sensitive to downy mildew, moderately susceptible to powdery mildew, and heavily affected by mites in early spring. Frost resistance is low. Used for the production of full-bodied red wines with intense color, aging potential, and notes of ripe fruit and spices.
