The name Procanico is a synonym for the Trebbiano Toscano variety, widespread in the Umbria, Tuscany, and Lazio regions. The variety is considered ancient, presumably known since Roman times, and belongs to the wine grape categories.
The bushes are characterized by medium vigor, with perfect flowers. The leaves are medium or large in size, three- or five-lobed. Clusters are medium, conical in shape, often winged, dense or medium-dense. Berries are round, white in color, with firm, thick skin and juicy pulp, sometimes with a pink tint.
The variety has medium resistance to fungal diseases and good drought tolerance; frost resistance is down to -21°C. The yield is 90–110 c/ha. The grapes are used for producing table wines and base wines for brandy, providing the finished beverage with freshness, acidity, and structure.
