The variety is classified as a wine grape and is used for the production of white wines. It is often identified with the Sauvignonasse variety (also known as Friulano or Sauvignon vert), and in Romania, it is officially represented as a selection clone or form named Sauvignon gros 9 Bl.

Morphologically, the variety is described by a downy, greenish-yellow rosette with a reddish tinge and a whitish-green pubescent shoot tip. The leaves are medium-sized, round, entire or three- to five-lobed. The flower is hermaphroditic.

For this variety, agrotechnical operations on the green parts of the vine are necessary, such as leaf removal in the cluster zone to improve aeration. It is important to distinguish this variety from Gros Manseng, with which it is sometimes confused due to name similarities in wine blends.
