The Nero di Troia variety is distributed primarily in the Apulia region. The vine possesses high growth vigor, while the yield is characterized as moderate or low. The variety is well-adapted to the hot Mediterranean climate, is resistant to powdery mildew, but is susceptible to downy mildew.
Clusters are large, quite compact, and often pyramidal in shape. Berries are medium-sized, round, dark violet in color, almost black, with thick skin and a dense waxy bloom. Wines from this variety possess an intense color, rich tannins, and aromas of dark berries, spices, and violet.
