This trait is a decisive factor for agrotechnology: determinate tomatoes are characterized by a more concentrated fruit set and early ripening. Unlike indeterminate forms, they are more often pruned to 2–3 stems, and due to a more compact root system, they require strict control of irrigation and nutrient regimes.
