Radish maturity group

Raphanus sativus L. var. sativus

Classification of radish varieties based on the duration of the period from mass emergence to technical maturity of root crops, ranging from 16 to 55 days.

In the reference 180 varieties crop Radish, where this is mentioned in the description.

Radish maturity groups are determined by the number of days from full emergence to the root reaching marketable size. These include ultra-early varieties (16–22 days), early-maturing (20–30 days), mid-maturing (30–40 days), and late-maturing (35–55 days).

This trait determines the cultivation strategy, including continuous production schedules and the selection of sowing dates. When selecting a variety, the light regime is taken into account, as radish is a long-day crop: early-maturing varieties are prone to bolting under excess light, and if left too long in the garden, the roots lose their marketability, becoming hollow and woody.
