Lupinus angustifolius L.
Narrow-leaf lupin is a high-protein crop with low alkaloid content, suitable for fodder purposes without mandatory heat treatment. The grain contains 32–40% protein with an alkaloid limit of up to 0.04%.

Modern fodder varieties of narrow-leaf lupin are characterized by low levels of bitter alkaloids, which allows their use in livestock diets as a complete substitute for soybean meal. Unlike many legumes, the protein of this crop has high digestibility due to the low content of trypsin and chymotrypsin inhibitors, which eliminates the need for preliminary heat treatment of the grain.
The crop possesses high agronomic suitability and ecological plasticity, being the most early-maturing and cold-resistant species of lupin. The ability for active nitrogen fixation and a powerful root system allow it to be effectively used in crop rotations, while resistance to lodging and pod shattering makes direct combine harvesting possible.
