Tobacco Productivity

Tobacco leaf productivity is characterized by the dry leaf mass per unit area, measured in centners per hectare. This indicator is influenced by plant biometric parameters, such as height, number and size of leaves, as well as the variety's resistance to leaf burn, which affects the volume of harvested high-quality raw material.

Seed productivity is evaluated by the number of capsules in an inflorescence, the mass of seeds in one capsule, and the thousand-seed weight. Seed yield varies depending on moisture conditions: in irrigated areas, it ranges from 3–4 c/ha, while in non-irrigated conditions, the figure decreases to 1–2 c/ha.

Productivity assessment in variety trials is conducted relative to a standard variety with the calculation of the least significant difference. The yield level depends on the genetic potential of the variety, plant density, nutrient regime, soil moisture level within 65–70%, and the type of tobacco.
