Due to continuous productivity, such plants require intensive cultivation practices, including frequent fertilization and regular irrigation, while plantations often have a short operational lifespan and require frequent renewal.
During variety testing, remontancy is evaluated as an important economic and biological trait through phenological observations of flowering and fruiting dates, as well as through the study of yield dynamics. Variety testers compare samples with standards based on total seasonal yield and check the stability of the trait during propagation, as well as its uniformity within the variety. Quantitatively, the trait is expressed as the weight of the harvest per unit area or per plant during various harvesting phases.
The level of remontancy does not have a universal scale and is a varietal characteristic.
