A technological method in rapeseed breeding that enables hybrid production by preventing self-pollination in maternal lines. It is based on the Ogura, Polima, and MSL CMS systems, which require the use of fertility restorer lines to obtain a harvest.

To evaluate sterility in rapeseed, cytological and embryological methods are used to determine the state of the tapetum, along with morphobiological observations, such as the presence of white, underdeveloped anthers in the Polima system. An important indicator is the stability of the sterile phenotype, which, in the Polima type, can be compromised when temperatures exceed 25 °C.
The genetic foundation of the hybrids is based on the use of fertility restoration genes. When transferring these genes into paternal lines, breeders must account for the linkage of these genes with glucosinolate content, necessitating quality control to ensure high-grade production. The use of CMS systems does not negatively affect crop structure parameters, allowing for the creation of high-yielding heterotic hybrids.
