Pests
Pisum sativum L.
A specific pea pest, Acyrthosiphon pisum destructor, which causes plant organ deformation and yield reduction. It is a vector for viral diseases, including pea mosaic viruses.
In the reference 9 varieties crop Pea, where this is mentioned in the description.
The pea pest is represented by the specialized biotype Acyrthosiphon pisum destructor, which feeds primarily on annual legume crops. The insects form colonies on stem tips, buds, flowers, and young pods, sucking sap from the most tender plant tissues.
Damaged plants are characterized by leaf curling, shoot distortion, and stunted growth. Sooty molds develop on the aphid secretions, and the pods themselves often remain underdeveloped or empty. Specific pea resistance genes to this pest are currently not described in breeding literature.
