Pepper Yield

Pepper yield is evaluated based on the total and marketable weight of fruits harvested at the stage of technical maturity, using units of t/ha for open-field conditions and kg/m² for protected cultivation.

In open-field conditions, the yield of commercial pepper crops varies in the range of 30–45 t/ha, while modern hybrids in experimental plots are capable of reaching 60–70 t/ha. In protected cultivation, productivity is significantly higher and can reach 10–15 kg/m² or more, which is largely determined by the intensity of the technologies used, such as low-volume hydroponics.

Realizing the yield potential of pepper directly depends on agrotechnical conditions and the biological characteristics of the variety or hybrid. A critically important factor is maintaining the moisture of the root zone at the level of 80–85% of FC (field capacity), as fluctuations in moisture and temperature trigger ovary shedding and a decrease in the final harvest, while requiring balanced bush formation and adherence to optimal planting density.
