The shrub is characterized by a compact growth habit with vertically directed rigid shoots. Depending on conditions, the crown can take on a columnar or rounded shape. The height and width of an adult plant vary within the range of 0.5 to 1 meter.

The foliage is colored in a saturated purple-red, while young growths have a brighter red shade. During the flowering period, the plant is covered with small yellow flowers, and later forms red berries. The variety is deciduous.

The plant is used for creating hedges, borders, and contrasting landscape compositions. The shrub withstands temperature drops down to -30°C, prefers sunny or semi-shaded locations, and adapts well to pruning.
