The FAMOSA variety is autochthonous and traditional for the Galicia region. The fruits are distinguished by good taste qualities, are suitable for fresh consumption, production of puree, and glazed chestnuts. The variety is recognized as promising for the mechanical fruit peeling industry.

The plant belongs to productive varieties; harvesting usually begins after October 26. The average weight of one nut is about 7.23 g. Male inflorescences are of the brachystaminate type with low stability of characteristics. In modern practice, saplings are often grafted onto rootstocks resistant to ink disease.
