Feltrona and Seronda are ancient landrace varieties selected during many years of chestnut cultivation in Asturias. They have been traditionally used in local farming for the production of flour, puree, and other types of processing.

These varieties are part of the Asturian genetic stock of chestnut. Harvesting of the fruits of these varieties is carried out in the autumn period, mainly in October and November.
