The variety is a traditional cultivar of the Piedmont region. Its fruits are suitable for fresh and dried consumption, and are also used in processing for the preparation of chestnut flour, bread, pasta, jams, and confectionery.

The variety is included in the list of varieties authorized for the production of chestnuts with the protected geographical indication "Castagna Cuneo". Research on the variety is primarily focused on genetic identification and biochemical analysis of fruit composition.
