The tree of the Garinche cultivar has a semi-upright growth habit. The fruits of this cultivar are distinguished by the fact that their spiny husks, or cupules, have a relatively small number of spines.
The cultivar belongs to the early-mid maturity group. Like many pure Castanea sativa cultivars, it may show sensitivity to ink disease, which is why the cultivar is mentioned in studies on the selection of resistant rootstocks.
