Trees of this variety possess good adaptability to various growing conditions and demonstrate resistance to diseases, however, they are sensitive to extreme heat and drought. Fruit ripening begins in early October.

The fruits have an ellipsoid shape and are medium to large in size, with 60–80 pieces per 1 kg. The skin is shiny, red-brown in color with dark stripes. The fruits are used fresh, as well as in the confectionery industry for the production of flour and candied chestnuts.

The variety is part of the local biodiversity of Piedmont and is included in the list of crops for the production of products with the Protected Geographical Indication (IGP) "Castagna di Cuneo".
