The variety belongs to a group close to the "Marrone" type and is widely distributed in the Piedmont region. The fruits are used fresh and in the confectionery industry, particularly for the production of glazed chestnuts.

The variety is mid-season, with the ripening period occurring in early October. The fruits have a characteristic gloss and a reddish-brown color with darker stripes.

The variety is included in the list of traditional crops of the province of Cuneo and is associated with protected geographical indications. It is the subject of scientific research on the conservation of the gene pool using micropropagation methods.
