The variety is a local cultivar grown in the northeast of Portugal. It is not the result of new hybrid breeding and belongs to regional genetic resources.
The fruits of the variety are characterized by a consistently high content of linoleic acid. Studies of the fruit composition include an analysis of amino acid and phenolic compound content, as well as an examination of the effect of various thermal processing methods on their characteristics.
Physiological studies determined the optimal temperature for photosynthesis for this variety, which is approximately 22 °C, indicating adaptation to the climatic conditions of the region of origin.
