The Precoce di Roccamonfina variety, also known as Tempestiva or Primitiva, is a local landrace that developed in the area of the Roccamonfina volcano. Its development is closely linked to local slightly acidic volcanic soils poor in exchangeable calcium.

This variety belongs to early-maturing types and is valued for its high flavor qualities when consumed fresh. Unlike the Marrone group of varieties, it is not specialized raw material for the confectionery industry.

Precise morphological characteristics, such as plant height, as well as specific indicators of disease resistance are absent in publications. The general health status of the plantings depends on environmental conditions and the applied agricultural techniques.
