The variety belongs to the category of mid-season crops. To obtain marketable products after harvesting the roots, cold storage for 6–8 weeks is required. The process of forcing the heads can take about 4 months depending on the conditions and the quality of the initial root crop.

The plant forms high-quality heads with a short core. In official documentation, the name "Deesse" is also used for a shallot variety, therefore, to identify this chicory, it is necessary to be guided by its Latin name Cichorium intybus.
