The variety originates from the Friuli region (Italy) and is also known as Goriziana. The plant is characterized by its compactness and fleshy, crunchy leaves with a slightly bitter taste. It belongs to open-pollinated varieties.

The variety is intended for cultivation in the autumn-winter period. High cold resistance allows for harvesting over a long period. It is also permitted to use the crop for forcing in protected cultivation to obtain more tender greens.
