The plant forms compact, round-shaped heads of medium size. The leaves have an intense red color with contrasting crunchy white veins and ribs. It possesses the slightly bitter taste characteristic of radicchio.

The variety belongs to the mid-late maturity group and is noted for its good cold tolerance. The plant is characterized by vigorous growth. Harvesting usually occurs in November–December when sown in summer.

Used as a vegetable crop for fresh consumption in salads, as well as for thermal processing, including stewing and grilling.
