The plant forms dense, well-closed heads of elongated or oval shape, 18–22 cm in height. The leaves have an intense red-burgundy color and a crunchy white central vein. The taste of the leaves is described as pleasant, with a characteristic bitterness.

The variety is early-ripening; harvesting begins after September 1. The plant possesses good resistance to bolting and tolerates light frosts. The intense red color forms naturally in the field, without the need for a blanching process in the dark.

The variety is intended primarily for fresh use as a salad crop, but is also suitable for heat treatment. The crop is suitable for autumn cultivation.
