The plant forms dense elongated heads 25–30 cm tall. The leaves have a rich dark red color with contrasting white veins and possess a characteristic bitter taste.

The variety is mid-late; the period from full emergence to technical maturity is 105–115 days. The plant shows tolerance to cold and frosts. To obtain a more tender leaf texture, a forcing technique in the dark is used.

The produce is suitable for fresh consumption, as well as for frying, baking, stewing, and use in various dishes. The heads are characterized by suitability for long-term storage under refrigerated conditions.
