Puna II
ActiveCichorium intybus L. · Chicory
Grasslanz Technology
10 August 2026
The variety forms a semi-erect rosette up to 30 cm in diameter and 15 cm in height. The dense, rounded head resembles heading cabbage; its average weight is 200–300 g, but it can reach 600–800 g. The leaves are succulent, crunchy, dark red with contrasting white veins and slightly ruffled edges.
The period from emergence to harvest is 75–90 days. The plant is cold-hardy, demanding of irrigation, and sensitive to day length: the intensity of the coloration increases with a short day length. Premature bolting is possible at high temperatures and in conditions of moisture deficiency.
It is used primarily fresh for salads and appetizers. To improve flavor qualities during the growing period, the head blanching method is used by covering or tying the outer leaves.
