The plant forms elongated, conical or oval heads with narrow, crunchy purple leaves and contrasting broad white veins. The growing period is about 150 days. The variety is hardy to light frosts; the recommended planting pattern is 30x30 cm or 40x25 cm.

The leaves have a slightly bitter taste, which softens after culinary processing or the onset of frosts. The variety is used fresh in salads, as well as for preparing hot dishes, including soups, risotto, baking and grilling.
